Critter of the Month: Falkor
Falkor and I met in 2014 when I worked as a lead veterinary technician at the city of Rancho Cucamonga Animal Center. He came into our facility with severe injuries as he was hit by a car. He suffered a broken ilium, torn abdominal wall, and a fractured, dislocated pelvis.

Like many modern love affairs, my relationship with Frankie began online; what was unusual is it happened on Ravelry, a site for fiber arts enthusiasts - and all of their many other fandoms, including dachshunds. Another member was fostering a wire-haired dachshund and her nine puppies (backyard breeder rescue).

Critter of the Month: Fiddle
We met Fiddle in January of 2020, two weeks before the pandemic began. We had been wanting to adopt a dog for a long time, and were waiting to learn about a dog that needed a new home. We discovered that there was a dog named Daffodil at a shelter called Pets in Need in Palo Alto. We drove down to meet her, and it was love at first sight! We ultimately renamed her Fiddle!
