Meet Habibi!
Habibi was mostly feral for the first six months of his life, but someone was feeding him, so he didn’t have a fear of humans. When Andrea’s Dream Rescue brought him to my place, he immediately rolled on his back to expose his belly, a sign of trust.

Habibi is the sweetest of all my many cats. I’m retired so I have lots of time to devote to him. Also, Russian Blues are known for their sweet personalities. I named him Habibi which means “Sweetie” in Persian.

Habibi loves to play, we have three different wands or strings I wave above him as he jumps in glee. This needs to happen between 7 and 9 in the morning, and the same time slot in the evening. If there is any kind of delay, he jumps onto my legs (I’ve learned to always wear long pants!). This is a lot better than the claws he used when he was a kitten.

Habibi spends most of the day window watching. As you can tell from the picture of him atop his cat tower, he longs to go outside. I’ve fitted him with a harness and a collar with our phone number on it, but we have not yet gone outside. The backyard is mostly a parking lot but it’s a process, making sure we both feel safe.

Habibi has health issues, no doubt from being feral. Campus Vet has been fantastic. I live three blocks from them and recently purchased a cart so we don’t have to take Lyft (I don’t drive). Maybe someday he will overcome his shyness and make friends at Ohlone Park!

Our favorite time of day is bedtime. As soon as I’m settled, he pads over and asks to be let in under the covers. As he nestles close to my heart, I stroke him til we both fall asleep.
