Meet Frankie!
Like many modern love affairs, my relationship with Frankie began online; what was unusual is it happened on Ravelry, a site for fiber arts enthusiasts—and all of their many other fandoms, including dachshunds. Another member was fostering a wire-haired dachshund and her nine puppies (backyard breeder rescue). We brought Frankie home from Vancouver, WA in May of 2011, when she was three months old and as many pounds. Turns out she’s half-chihuahua (a doxihuahua), but we were fully under her spell.
Frankie’s used to getting tons of attention with her unique looks and attitude, more than once stopping traffic when people stop to ask about her. She likes to bask in the sun, sleep under blankets in all weather, and lick our arms and legs whenever possible. Frankie loves bacon and all things pig-based, but also eats the bean sprouts from pho.
When not napping, eating, or enjoying “virtual Doggle Walks,” Frankie uses her vivid imagination to spin tall tales about her world: adventures of feral doxihuahuas, the myth of the never-depleting snacking pig, dog math (there’s only one!), and lard-based skin treatments. Her dream is to receive the gift of an Iberian pig leg.
Frankie lives in Berkeley with two doting humans and two less-doting felines.
