Cancer Treatment / Oncology

Dr. Patrick Pierson, originally from Paris, earned his veterinary degree from Ross University. He specializes in dentistry, soft-tissue surgery, and internal medicine for dogs, cats, pocket pets, and rabbits. Outside of work, he enjoys soccer, gardening, and traveling, and lives in Berkeley with his wife, daughter, and their pets Ginger and Gale.

Dr. Patrick Pierson

Medical Director

Dr. Bess studied veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover in Germany and worked in small animal general practice and emergency care before returning to the U.S. Her special interests include preventative medicine, feline health, nutrition, and dentistry, and she enjoys partnering with pet parents to keep their pets healthy. Outside of work, she loves gardening, hiking, biking, swimming, and spending time with her husband and their cat in El Cerrito.

Dr. Lindsay Bess

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Brenda Tam earned her DVM from Western University of Health Sciences and has since built a diverse career, including roles at Mount Diablo Veterinary Medical Center, Banfield Pet Hospital, and international volunteer work in Germany. Passionate about dermatology and wellness, she is dedicated to improving each patient's quality of life. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, fitness, and caring for her plants. She lives with her husband of 10 years and their senior dog, Ecko, who has even joined her on adventures across Europe.

Dr. Brenda Tam

I have been working in animal medicine for over 10 years, and it is truly my passion. Caring for pets and supporting their families has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life, whether helping a sick animal heal or offering comfort in tough times. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and baking treats to share.
