Meet Cashew! We first met Cashew at an adoption event for the Stonecliff rescue group where he was the most snuggly, best behaved puppy we’d ever met. We marvel daily at how much we love him, and how much goofy entertainment and joy he brings to our lives. He loves nothing more than ball, but treats and hikes are a close second. His biggest fear are the hellbeasts known as city buses with their loud, large, terrifying drive-bys.Read More →

Meet Rufus! When Rufus was about two months old he was rescued by an amazingly awesome Berkeley Police Department Officer during an arrest of his then owner. The Officer turned Rufus over to the Berkeley Animal Shelter, which is when he came to my attention. I had never seriously thought about adopting a cat, but something about his face and his story compelled me to visit him. When I did, there was no going back. When the Officer saw him, she realized there was something special about him… and something different about his tail. Unlike most cats, Rufus has a twisty, short, stubby tail: RufusRead More →

How did we meet? How does any relationship begin these days, online. I’d spent several weeks looking at profile after profile of mature males with charming pictures, clever screen names and flattering descriptions: sporty, laid back, cuddly or mellow. I’d read them all, bookmarked a few even called to arrange some meetings. When I’d meet them I found these older guys to be lacking, jaded “seen it all” or too assertive almost aggressive, they would have done anything to go home with me ,frankly it was a turn off , I was feeling zero spark, zero chemistry. Then late one Friday afternoon I was checkingRead More →

Meet Bella! Bella is my wonderful little girl. I got her when she was about 3 months old. I was at a friend’s house who had just gotten a puppy. She was so cute. I wanted to steal her. At that point, my friend told me that her sister was in need of a home. He made a call and 15 minutes later, this cute little chocolate Miniature Pincher was at the door. It took about a minute for her to worm her way into my heart. I took her home that night. She is the Alpha dog in our pack. Bella loves to snuggle and curl up under the blankets. Her favorite outings are camping, the beach, andRead More →

Meet Willis aka Will Feral!   It was over 7 years ago when we first saw Willis at the Oakland Animal Shelter. At 7 months old, Willis’ personality caught our eye. Purring out loud, pacing back and forth like a shark. For our family, it was all a new experience; seeing so many cats made it only harder to choose. We questioned why no one had picked him and if he would be a good companion. Workers at the shelter mentioned that he had many roommates who had been adopted. Yet he still remained. However, it was noted that he was an excellent roommate, butRead More →
