Meet Atticus! Atticus came into our lives in August 2017. He is our first family dog and it was love at first sight. My brother and I saw him through the window, even before we set foot into Berkeley Animal Care Services, and returned the next day with our two older sisters in tow. Atticus has since become an irreplaceable member of the family. He loves going to the park, but requires an entourage if you would like him to play fetch. He doesn’t like the rain, but will gladly jump through puddles with you. He will sometimes huff and puff like an old manRead More →

Meet Viola! We adopted Viola in August 2005, from the Humane Society of Huron Valley (in Ann Arbor, Michigan), where she stole our hearts the minute we laid eyes on her tiny spotted frame.  We adopted her and her brother (Sebastian; RIP 2005-2017), and traveled around the world with them (Michigan-Southern California-Australia) before settling down here. From day 1, Viola has been a feisty little ball of fur.  Her favorite activity is to hunt and catch her “mice”, and she’ll even play fetch with you if you ask nicely enough!  She’s quite a proper cat, and is normally prim and tidy, but she’s been caught being goofyRead More →

Meet Oliver! Oliver is a five year old black cat. He joined our family one day after a long week at work for his soon-to-be-owner(me) led to browsing kitten pictures online. When I saw the adorable picture of him on the Humane Society of Silicon Valley website, I knew he would be the perfect addition to the household – but his name, Boomer, had to go. Instead we called him Oliver, after my late great-grandfather. Oliver LOVES snuggles, food, being carried around the house in paper bags, and watching the birds outside. He’s not so fond of his adopted sister Lilith, sharing toys, or beingRead More →

My name is Doogie Howser and I’m a 11 month old cockapoo from SoCal. My dad adopted me from my parents when I was only 8 weeks old! I’m a graduate of Sirius Puppy Training 1 and a lot of my dad’s friends compliment me on my recall. This past year has been a lot of fun and adventure in Ohlone Small Dog Park, Point Isabelle, and Albany Bulb. When Dad and me aren’t out exploring the East Bay, I like to play tug-of-war, chew on/rip up my toys (but not squeaky toys), and lay down in my dad’s spot. I will never say noRead More →

Meet Finn! In April of 2008, our roommate, Caitlin, told us that she had seen the most amazing cat up for adoption at PetSmart. Considering she had picked a winner in our cat, Mailbox, we took her advice and paid PetSmart a visit. As we approached the crates, a lone tabby paw stretched across our path, beckoning us closer. As soon as we met, we knew he was special! Finn has brought us so much joy over the past nine years we have spent together, always on hand to cuddle, console, or entertain. He is truly a remarkable cat with a very affectionate, personable mannerRead More →

Meet Lurch! A note from Lurch’s family:  One day in New York, while I was in graduate school, my former partner and I were walking out of the apartment when my partner stopped and gasped. I looked and saw Lurch standing there. It turns out that my former partner’s roommate was taking care of Lurch while Lurch’s original parents figured out what they were doing after a breakup. This is how I first met him.  We became companions after I found out that Lurch’s original parents were going to put him down and my former partner’s roommate was allergic so they couldn’t keep him. At this point,Read More →
